Current Offers and Discounts
What current offers, discounts, and promos or promo codes are available on Trailways?
Looking for a good reason to travel? Trailways.com and Trailways.ca offer promotional codes that give customer great deals on travel in North America. Trailways typically shares discount offers with our Driven Rewards members by e-mail and with all customers using our social media. To use a promotional code, simply enter the code on the "Review and Purchase" page while checking out. Remember, only promotional codes offered by Trailways are valid on Trailways.com and Trailways.ca. Check the terms and conditions for each promo carefully to make sure that the code you are using applies to the trip you'd like to take.
Check-in and Arrival
What is the check-in and arrival process? When should you arrive at your departure location in order to catch your Trailways bus?
Our recommended arrival times are meant to allow plenty of time to check-in (with or without baggage) and get squared away before scheduled departure.
- Scheduled Service: 30 to 40 minutes prior to scheduled departure
- Charters: 30 to 40 minutes prior to scheduled departure
Flexible Fare
What is a "Flexible Fare" with Trailways?
Our Flexible Fare means more options and more flexibility. With Trailways' Flexible Fare you may request a full refund or make changes to your trip…without a fee.
All refunds and schedule changes to an eligible itinerary must be made prior to departure. Trip rescheduling is only available between the original origin and destination and changes in fare may apply.
Saver Fare
What is a "Saver Fare" with Trailways?
Our Saver Fare means the lowest fare available anywhere online. This fare is non-refundable and rescheduling fees will be incurred for any modification to your itinerary.
The rescheduling fee for a Saver Fare is $20 (if you use your online account to complete the reissue). Additionally, customers are responsible for any positive difference in fare at the time of re-booking. Rescheduling is also possible by contacting our Customer Care Center or visiting a full service station near you.

Same-Day Return, Round-Trip Fares
What is a "Same-Day Return Round-Trip" fare?
Available from Trailways of New York, these Mid-Hudson Valley to New York City routes are kind of a big deal. And if you travel same-day round-trip they’re a really good deal.
- Between Kingston, NY and New York City Mid-Week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday only) Same-Day, Round-Trip Special: $50.50
- Between New Paltz (NY) and New York City Mid-Week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday only) Same-Day, Round-Trip Special: $44.00
- Between Rosendale (NY) and New York City Mid-Week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday only) Same-Day, Round-Trip Special: $48.50
- Between Woodstock (NY) and New York City Mid-Week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday only) Same-Day, Round-Trip Special: $54.50
Same-day round-trip fares are available on select Trailways routes. For purchases, simply visit the nearest Trailways ticket agent. Same-day round-trip fares are subject to change and are not presently available online.
Half Fare
Is proof of eligibility required for "Half Fare" tickets?
Passengers must provide proof of eligibility for Half Fare tickets at both time of purchase and time of boarding. Passengers must be 65 years of age or certified as having a disability benefit in order to receive a ticket at half-fare.
Passengers must be able to show proof of age by providing a:
- Government Issued Picture ID, such as a Driver’s License, or non-drivers ID with date of birth Medicare Card
- If your proof does not include a picture ID, a supplemental government issued picture ID, such as Driver’s License, or non-drivers ID must also be presented.

Passengers must be able to show proof of a disability benefit under:
- Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- Veterans Administration (VA) Disability
- Medicare Card
If your proof of disability benefit does not include a picture ID, then a Government Issued Picture ID, such as Driver’s License, or Non-Driver’s ID must also be presented.
How is the Half Fare Calculated?
The half fare is available on one-way or round-trip undiscounted fares only. It is NOT available on fares for which discounts already apply, such as 10-Trips, monthly, or weekly passes, etc.
How do I purchase a "Half Fare" ticket from Trailways?
Half Fare tickets are available on select Trailways routes. For purchases, simply visit the nearest Trailways ticket agent and present acceptable proof of eligibility. Half Fare tickets are not presently available online.
What is the Half Fare Program?
The National Mass Transit Act of 1974 requires that certain routes operated by certain carriers receiving Federal Transit Administration subsidies maintain a standing policy that offers a 50% fare discount for senior citizens and people with disabilities during our off-peak hours.
When is the Half Fare available?
Half Fares are available on select Trailways routes during off-peak hours. Peak hours are defined as weekday travel (Monday-Friday) from 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 7:29 p.m.
All other travel on the listed bus routes, including travel on weekends, is considered Off-Peak, and Half Fare is available.
Where is the "Half Fare" program available?
Trailways fixed routes that are eligible for Half Fare during off-peak hours are:
- Albany (and points between) Warrensburg
- Albany (and points between) Kingston
- Albany (and points between) Newburgh
- Albany (and points between) Gloversville
- Kingston (and points between) New York
- Kingston (and points between) White Plains
Half Fares are not available on any other routes
Who qualifies for "Half Fare" purchases on Trailways?
Citizens age 65 and over, individuals with a disability benefit and Medicare cardholders are entitled to ride for half-fare on select Trailways fixed route service during off-peak hours.
TrailPass Discounted Tickets
What is a TrailPass Commuter and how big is the discount?
TrailPass Commuter is a digital ticket booklet available on select Trailways routes and carriers. It lets you save time and money by purchasing multiple rides at once for a discounted rate. Choose the duration and number of rides that best fit your needs, for a convenient, flexible way to travel.
Currently, TrailPass Commuter is available from member carrier, Trailways of New York, for travel between Kingston, Rosendale, New Paltz, and New York, NY.
How do I purchase a TrailPass Commuter?

How do I use my tickets?
After purchase, tickets must be assigned to trips inMy Trips before travel.
Do you need to book your bus in advance?
Yes, sign in to your account to Book a Ride using your TrailPass Commuter.
Can you book departure time for multiple rides at one time?
Yes, simply select multiple dates when selecting your rides.
Can you reserve seats?
No.
Are passes transferable?
A TrailPass is not transferable and may only be used by the passenger whose name is on the pass.
Are TrailPass tickets refundable?
TrailPass tickets are not refundable, with limited exceptions. For a more details, please visit the Trailways of New York Refund Policy.
Can expiration dates be extended (can you roll over rides)?
No, a TrailPass is valid for the Travel Period only. Unused rides cannot be used past the expiration date.
Can you get a refund for unused rides within the travel period?
No.
Can you change your travel cities?
No.
Can you book any bus/schedule time?
TrailPass holders may book any available trip between the ticketed origin and destination of their purchase at no additional cost.

What is a Trailways TrailPass "Multi-Ride" ticket?
Available from select Trailways carriers on limited routes, TrailPass Multi-Ride deals are a great way to save money when you travel. Digital booklets of ten tickets are available at discounted prices based on the time within you plan to use your rides.
As an example, a ten-ticket pass that is:
• valid for 15 days is sold at a 30% discount off the regular fare, • valid for 30 days is sold at a 25% discount off the regular fare, • valid for 60 days is sold at a 20% discount off the regular fare, • valid for 90 days is sold at a 15% discount off the regular fare, or • valid for 180 days is sold at a 10% discount off the regular fare.

For online purchases, visit trailways.com or trailways.ca and log in to your Driven Rewards account. Once logged in, select the tab that says “TrailPass, Commuter, or Multi Ride”. Type in your preferred origin and destination, the intended start date for your pass, and search to see availability and pricing. After making your purchase, don’t forget to assign your rides by visiting “my trips”.
Children’s Fares
What "Child or Children's" fares are available on Trailways?
Children's fares may be available for children aged 2 - 16 depending on the operator of your trip.
During booking, select the number of passengers in each age group to reveal available discounts. Purchasing at one of our retail locations? Be sure to notify your ticket agent of traveller ages.
Trailways of New York Child Fare Policy

Children aged 2 – 16 may save up to 20% off the regular adult fare when accompanied by a qualifying adult. Children’s fare tickets may not be purchased without the accompanying purchase of an adult fare ticket. Only two children’s fare tickets can be purchased per adult fare ticket in the same order. Children's fares will only apply to those fares that permit such reduction. Discounted or special fares are not eligible for a children's discount.

Operators retain the right to request proof of age at the time of purchase and the time of boarding.

We don’t think that a diaper bag, a car seat, or a stroller should cost you an arm and a leg. So, each ticketed passenger may stow either 1 car seat or 1 stroller free of charge.
However, play pens, cribs, pack and plays, wagons, and similar items will count as your one complimentary pieces of stowed luggage. Additional luggage may be stowed for a fee.

Infant Fares
What "Infant" fare(s) are available on Trailways?
Infants travel for free with Trailways when riding on the lap of a ticketed adult passenger. One child under two may ride for free per ticketed adult passenger.
Student
What Student fares are available?
A discount of up to 15% off the regular Adult fare is available to students on select routes. To see if discounts exist in your region, begin your purchase now: Online Purchases: In order to receive a discount online, customers must create an account with ID.me in order to be validated and receive a discount.
In-Terminal Purchases: In order to receive a discount at a terminal location, customers must present a Student Advantage Card ™, a valid school ID, or sufficient proof of current enrollment.
Military Fares
What military discounts does Trailways offer?
It is an honor and a privilege to extend a discount of up to 15% to all active duty or retired service members (including their spouses) of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard; as well as members of the National Guard and visiting foreign personnel.
Online Purchases: To receive a discount online, customers must create an account with ID.me in order to be validated and receive a discount.
In-Terminal Purchases: In order to receive a discount at a terminal location, customers must present a valid CAC, military or dependent ID, LES, or DD214.

Advance Purchase Fares
What Advanced Purchase fares are available?
Discounted fares may also apply for travel to destinations outside of our operating network. These tickets must be purchased in advance, and are usually non-refundable. In order to purchase tickets with the Advanced Purchase Discount - make your purchase at the station or online as far in advance of your departure date as possible.
Senior Citizens
What "Senior or Senior Citizen" fares are available?
You’ve earned it! Senior Citizens age 65 and older are able to enjoy up to 10% off our regular fare on Trailways routes (and some Trailways partners, too!).
Ready to get started? Simply select the senior passenger type when making your purchase online to reveal available discounts. Purchasing at one of our retail locations? Be sure to notify your ticket agent that you qualify for a senior discount when making the purchase.
Passengers using a senior fare may be required to show proof of eligibility at the time of boarding.
